Search Engine Optimisation

Search Engine Optimisation

Welcome to SEO Forum Tips.

This website is designed as a forum to discuss all aspects of Search Engine Optimisation and give you tips on SEO. Over the coming months this forum will be covering a wide variety of topics and try to reveal as many SEO tips and secrets as possible. We want your contributions by telling what topics you want to talk about and then we will put it up for discusion.

When businesses create or buy thier first website some people think ‘great now we have a website we can make loads of money‘ but this is far from the truth. You could have the greatest looking website in the world but what is the point if nobody can find it. You could add widgets and other eye pleasing items to your website but would this attract visitors in the first place? This is something that should be considered in great detail in the planning and financing of your website.

You could buy a website of Ebay for next to nothing with the seller telling you that if you buy it you will have an automated website that will just work on itself whilst you reap in the rewards but in reality the chances of this happening are slim. I learned the hard way by creating my first website without any proper reasearch or planning and then falling flat on my face. I’m glad I did because it has made me more aware of the importance of SEO and after a few projects I finally managed to start to earn a living from affiliate marketing.

I concider SEO to be the most important part of any website but in truth, if you optimise correctly, you will spend a lot more time optimising your website for search engines than any other any other part of your website. The way I do it now is to create a clean basic website with clean search engine friendly code to start and as it starts to get noticed by the search engines try to improve the quality of the website as it builds ‘authority’ as other websites start to link to it. This with be discused in more detail in future pages of this website.

There are many types of search engine

Search Engines

SEO Forum – Methods to be covered

This SEO Forum plans to cover many different SEO categories but this will be expanded as I recieve input from you. By the time this website is completed there should be enough SEO tips for you to follow that you can then use it as a general guide for climbing the search engines. If you want a subject covered just ask and I will try to add it.

The following subjects are planned to be discussed on this forum

  • Keyword Research – Before creating any website you niche should be researched thoroughly in order to find a market that is obtainable within a set timescale.
  • Domian Naming – If you have a brand new website it could be well worth adding a few keywords into the Domian Name.
  • Page Ranking – The importance of how higher Page ranking leads to higher authority with Google.
  • Link Building Strategies – Links from one type of website is not enough. Consideration should be made to many different platforms e.g. Blogs, Forums, Social Media and more. Did you know that the worlds second largest search engine is in fact YouTube?
  • Social Bookmarking – Another form of link building where you or other people bookmark your website to websites including Del.ious.us, Digg and StumbleUpon.
  • On Page Optimisation – There are many different places within the code of a webpage where relevant keywords can be inserted to make it search engine freindly.
  • Relevance and Originality – Search engines look for relevant original content but with so many websites competing for the same keywords how hard is it to be original without going off track?
  • Directory Submissions – Is this really as important as it used to be with so many automated link farms out there and of course paying for a submission goes against Google Webmaster guidlines.
  • Reciprical Links – Trading a link from one website to another is not a form of natural link building but a link for another link is still very popular.
  • Marketing – Do you pay to get visitors to your website with Advertising, PPC or Affiliate Marketing or do you spend the money on SEO to gain organic search engine results?
  • Tools for SEO – There are some great free tools out there such as Google Anylitics and Google Webmaster tools which tell you more about your website than you may think. There are also paid tools and tools which could get you sandboxed and banned by using unethical methods
  • Search Engine Optimisation is constantly evolving as new web trends are born. For example Social Media websites such as Facebook and Twitter have only appeared over the past few years but if you look at any business with a large web presence you will see that most of them will intergrate these platforms as part of thier SEO strategy. To be up to date with SEO it is important to keep up with the current and upcoming trends.
